Meribel is a lively town, built mainly in local wood and stone and lies below the more modern higher-altitude Mottaret complex. Mottaret is a series of medium sized, low level buildings, almost all with doorstep skiing and a variety of bars, restaurants and shops and a very friendly village atmosphere.
